Police Search for Possibly Injured Mom After Husband, 2 Sons Found Shot Dead
Police are searching for the mother of two boys who were found shot dead, one inside their home and the other inside a car parked at an A&P supermarket in upstate New York, saying she may be injured and in need of medical attention.
The boys' father, identified as 49-year-old Abbas Lodhi, was also found dead of a gunshot wound inside the car Thursday morning in Pleasant Valley, police say. A shotgun was recovered at one of the scenes.
The children were identified as 9-year-old Zain Lodhi and 13-year-old Mugthba Lodhi.
Police emphasized there is no threat to local residents as the search for 43-year-old Sarwat Lodhi continues, calling the killings a "family tragedy."
Officials did not elaborate on their theory as to what happened, or how the mother was injured.
Michael Piccione, whose son was a close friend of Zain, said the boy was "always a peacemaker. He was always the one who never wanted anyone to fight."
"The most important thing right now is for our community to come together and work through this tragedy."

Story Two:
Cops: Mother of Dead Baby Found at Recycling Plant May Be Victim, Too
Police are still looking for the mother of the baby found at a recycling plant in Westchester last week.
Investigators looking for the mother of the dead baby found inside a plastic bag at a Westchester recycling plant last week say she may herself be a victim of a crime. Rob Schmitt reports.
Investigators looking for the mother of the dead baby found inside a plastic bag at a Westchester recycling plant last week say she may herself be a victim of a crime.
"The mother of this child has not shown up," Spring Valley Police Chief Paul Modica said in a news conference Thursday. "We don't know if she's also a victim somewhere that needs assistance or possibly the victim of another homicide."
The dead baby boy, dubbed by police as "Baby Angel," was found inside a plastic bag mixed among cardboard at the Brookfield Recycling Plant in Elmsford last week. The baby was born full-term then brutally killed, according to investigators.
Police later released photos of a black skirt and a towel with a floral design found with the baby in hopes someone would recognize the items and help identify the mother.
Tracing the plastic grocery bag in which the baby was found, detectives think the newborn was dumped in the trash at a deli on Maple Street in Spring Valley, then carried by a garbage truck to the recycling plant where it was found.
"Since Nov. 12, we've been consumed by this," Modica said. "We all have fathers, we all have mothers, we all have children, and this has been 24 hours a day."
Baby Angel was determined to be of some Latino descent, prompting community leaders, including Rampalo Ramirez of the Latino Pastors Association of Rockland County, to urge the public to come forward.
"Everything will remain confidential," Ramirez said. "At this point, we just want to find the mom, we want to make sure she's in good state of health, we want to know what happened and we want to prevent this from happening in the future."
A funeral for the child is set for Saturday at St. Joseph's Church in Elmsford. Police are offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction in the infant's death.
Anyone with information is asked to contact New York State Crime Stoppers at 1-866-313-TIPS or nyscrimestoppers.org.

UPDATE:
Boys, Mom Found Shot Dead Were Slain by Dad, Who Killed Himself: Police
Police now say the two boys shot dead in upstate New York were killed by their father, who also killed his wife.
Officials said they did not have an exact timeline of events, but said they believe the father, a 49-year-old pharmacist, shot the wife and children, 9 and 13, before killing himself.
Authorities had been searching for the wife's body and found it Friday, a day after the bodies of the others were located.
The father's body was found with one of the boys in a car parked at an A&P supermarket in Pleasant Valley, N.Y., and the other son was found at the family's home. A shotgun was recovered in the car.
The woman's body was found Friday beside a road in Wappingers Falls, about 13 miles south of where her family was found, police said.
The parents came to the U.S. from Pakistan in the 1990s and had moved to the area from Goshen about two months ago, police said.
A former next-door neighbor in Goshen said the father was "just a nice guy."
"His parents lived with them and he took care of his family," said John Blaine, who lived next door to the family.
"I can't even imagine. I can't," said Blaine, still stunned after the shootiings.
The Arlington Central School District said the 9-year-old boy Zain, who was in the fourth grade, was personable, hard-working and "always smiling."
His eighth-grader brother Mugthba is being remembered as kind, funny and athletic, who had plans to try out for the basketball team.
